Oh My Ears! - Justin Timberlake "Strawberry Bubblegum"

I recently heard Justin Timberlake's "Strawberry Bubblegum" from his new album The 20/20 Experience. This song is 7:59 long. I don't particularly like long songs. For some songs the extended version doesn't add anything to the song. That is how I feel about this song. I like it up to 5:02 when the sing probably officially ends. The additional 2:59 is unnecessary.

Other than that I love the song. The intro is sexy and smooth. I'm a little old school and this song has a nice old school sound to me. It reminds me of a sunny Saturday morning. Those days when you hop in the car with all the windows down, riding to the beach or around town just for fun. Check this song out and let me know what you think. Listen here!

Overalls

I loved my last pair of overalls. I think it was 199? and I was in high school. They were so comfortable. I loved to wear them under a tshirt and get double wear out of them. I also never needed a purse because it had so many pockets.

I would love to see them in a harem pant style and as a maxi. I loved the overall skirts so I would love it as a maxi. I haven't seen any in the stores yet, but I'm looking forward to getting a pair soon.

For Reel - Miss Dial

I just watched the movie Miss Dial starring Robinne Lee (House of Payne, Deliver Us from Eve) and Sam Jaeger (Parenthood, Eli Stone). Check out the trailer here!

Synopsis: Working from home, a consumer affairs rep plays hooky and spends her day calling random people, looking for new connections. Bingo! She finds one!

When I decided to watch this movie I did not read the synopsis. I was looking for movies with African American actors and this one was recently added to Netflix streaming list so I decided to check it out. In my opinion it is a total chick flick, but in a good way. It deals with some of the typical issues of the everyday woman. Relationships, work, and the desire to find the right path for both. The main character, Erica, takes her future into her own hands after a few conversations with some strangers. It sounded exciting to see her call people at random and just start talking. I was tempted to do it, but I would over think about what numbers to pick. The movie is less than 2 hours long (1h 28m) and I enjoyed every minute of it. I did not expect it to end the way it did and it brought a smile to my face without leaving me day dreaming that this could be me too. I recommend this movie to watch on a quiet evening alone like I did or with a few of your friends. It may even start an interesting conversation. Enjoy and if you've seen it let me know what you think.

The Hair Up There - LTPS

I wanted to share this post I found at Milk and Honey Hair. Jai speaks about her experience with wearing her hair in LTPS or long term protective styles.

I wish I had found this post sooner. I was natural for a little over a year when I cut all my hair off. Then I kept it short for a few months. Actually at that time I had a protective style, but maybe this post would have helped me to keep from cutting it off.

There is nothing wrong with wearing short hair, but for me I was being lazy. I didn't want to do the work it required to keep my natural hair healthy and styled. Now I miss my big fro. I have not cut it in about two months. Now that I want it to grow it feels like it is taking forever. It is too short for braids so I am currently wearing wigs. When it is long enough I plan to put braids again. I am usually not an advocate for new naturals to constantly wear protective styles, but I understand the frustration with the growing out process. I'll be natural two years next month. In my experience I found it is important to get used to your texture as it grows and not to try too many products once you've found what works. Though your hair does change as it grows and requires different products. I think it is a challenging journey that isn't for everyone.

Oh My Ears! ~ Anita Baker - No One In The World

I haven't talked about music much (or at all) on this blog, but I will every now and then. I love music. I really love to sing, but most of all I love to sing old school. Anita Baker is one of my favorite singers from the 80's and her song No One In the World is my absolute favorite.

If you haven't seen the video before you can watch it here. I could completely relate to how Anita felt in this video. Though a part of me desires to sing, act, and a few times model I am afraid to put myself out there. Yes, I have a YouTube channel, but for some reason that is different. I don't see every ones faces looking back at me.

Anyways back to Anita. This song and video spoke to me and daily I find the courage more and more to share myself with the world and I'm always reminded of this song. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Please comment and let me know what you think or share a song that speaks to you as much as this one did to me. I love to know what you think.
